The maelstrom can adapt to a variety of roles: sniping, tanking, and even a mediocre drone ship, although not nearly as good a drone ship as any Gallente battleship.

Its shield boost bonus gives it a huge advantage when active tanking, adding 37.5% to the shield boost with Minmatar battleship 5. It is tied with the Abaddon for highest powergrid, and it has a plenty of medium and low slots, allowing it to effectively tank shields and fit several damage mods at once. The Maelstrom is unusually slow for a Minmatar ship and can't outrun any other but the slowest battleships.

An excellent ship for leading a battleship group, or supporting capital ships.

Description & Bonuses

With the Maelstrom, versatility is the name of the game. Its defensive capabilities make it ideally suited for small raid groups or solo work, while its 8 turret hardpoints present opportunities for untold carnage on the fleet battlefield.
