The dreadnoughts are fierce capital-class ships designed to lay siege to the largest of all structures in EVE, the player owned station, (POS or starbase).

Slow and cumbersome, like all Capital Ships the Dreadnought relies on an on-board Jump Drive for system to system travel. When in siege mode, the dreadnoughts are all but mobile. In compensation for their immobility in siege mode, the ship's critical navigation systems are routed to power the defenses and weapon hardpoints. A side effect of the siege mode is the emission of a broad-spectrum electromagnetic field that prevents the operation of any electronic warfare modules.

A single Dreadnought has been known to turn the tide of many battles, the Dreadnought is truly the backbone of any alliance war machine.

Each race has designed their own dreadnought. The Phoenix was the first of the dreadnoughts to be developed, in true Caldari fashion. The Gallente Moros, the Amarr Revelation, and the Minmatar Naglfar followed soon after.

Description & Bonuses

The Naglfar is based on a Matari design believed to date back to the earliest annals of antiquity. While the exact evolution of memes informing its figure is unclear, the same distinctive vertical monolith form has shown up time and time again in the wind-scattered remnants of Matari legend.

Boasting impressive versatility in firepower options, the Naglfar is capable of holding its own against opponents of all sizes and shapes. While its defenses don't go to extremes as herculean as those of its counterparts, the uniformity of resilience - coupled with the sheer amount of devastation it can dish out - make this beast an invaluable addition to any fleet or army.

Minmatar Dreadnought Skill Bonus:

  • 5% bonus to Capital Projectile damage per level
  • 5% bonus to Missile Launcher rate of fire per level.


The Naglfar is not a well loved dread. It is plagued with issues. Firstly, it sports a duel weapon system. it uses two Citadel Torpedo Launchers and two capital turrets. This means a Nag pilot has twice as much training to do. Also, the inferior DPS of capital projectiles means that even with this extra training, a nag pilot will not achieve the DPS of, say, the Revelation. To add insult to injury, its tank is the worst of all the Dreads. With no other redeeming features, like the moros' dronebay, there is no other real reason to fly the Nag over another Dreadnaught other then avoiding training another racial BS skill to V.

Still, at least its vertical.
