Navigation skills
These skills all influence the performance of your ship in maneuvering, both tactically and strategically.
Base Skill: Navigation
Navigation is the root from which all other navigation skills grow. It improves ship sub-warp velocity by 5%/level.
Basic navigation skills
- Warp Drive Operation
- Requires Navigation (1)
Normally, going into warp requires 70% of your capacitor storage. This skill decreases capacitor need by 10%/level for attaining warp. (At level 5, it decreases capacitor need by half.)
- Evasive Maneuvering
- Requires Navigation (2)
This skill gives your ship a 5%/level agility bonus.
Afterburner skills
Skills improving use of afterburners and microwarpdrive units to boost ship speed.
- Afterburner
- Requires Navigation (1)
Increases afterburner duration by 10%/level (effectively reducing energy cost).
- Acceleration Control
- Requires Navigation (3)
Increases the speed boost offered by afterburner and microwarpdrive units by 5%/level.
- Fuel Conservation
- Requires Afterburner (2)
Reduces afterburner cost by 10%/level (directly reducing energy cost).
- High Speed Maneuvering
- Requires Afterburner (4)
Reduces Microwarpdrive capacitor needs by 5%/level.
Jump Drive skills
Some ships are equipped with jump drives in addition to the standard warp drive.
- Jump Drive Operation
- Requires Warp Drive Operation (5), Navigation (5), Science (5)
Reduces the capacitor need to initiate Jump by 5%/level.
- Jump Fuel Conservation
- Requires Jump Drive Operation (3)
Reduces ice consumption of the jump drives by 100 units/level.
- Jump Drive Calibration
- Requirs Jump Drive Operation (5)
Increases Jump Drive range by 25%/level.
