ORE ships are designed for high-efficiency mining and Salvaging operations.

Relative newcomers to ship design, Outer Ring Excavations originated as a corporation based in Gallente space, but, after disputes with Gallente Federation leadership, they struck out into lawless space and now operate primarily in the Outer Ring and Cloud Ring regions. After establishing independent operations, they developed several new classes of ships and have released blueprints for them into general circulation.

Visually, ORE ships represent a mixture between the starkly functional look typical of Caldari designs and the more rounded, organical feel of Gallente ships. They are silvery in colour. Mining barges have active flame stacks on the upper surfaces in order to vent heat from internal processes.

Although ORE ships are generally very slow and bulky to fly. They are unparalleled mining ships, receiving bonuses to mining speed and yield, and are the only ships able to mount strip miner and ice miner modules.

General strengths

General weaknesses

  • Extremely slow and massive
  • Very expensive and fairly skill-intensive
  • Unable to mount turrets or missile launchers, they will almost certainly require escorts in lowsec and 0.0 space

Mining Barges

Though based upon Gallente technology, the mining barge does not fall under any pre-existing category or school of design. All mining barges have 1 medium slot and 2 low slots and gain a 3% bonus to mining yield per level of Mining Barge skill.

Covetor

Main article: Covetor
The Covetor

Mining barges are a ship class designed by the ORE Syndicate to facilitate the advancement of the mining profession to a new level. They are equipped with electronic subsystems specifically designed to accommodate Strip Mining and Ice Harvester modules, have sizable cargo holds, and can carry one or more mining drones. Altogether this makes them extremely efficient ore extraction vessels.

The Covetor is the largest Tech I mining barge, able to equip three Strip Miner or Ice Harvester modules and carry up to ten drones.

Mining Barge Skill Bonus:

  • 3% better yield for Strip Miners per level.

Role Bonus:

  • Able to equip Strip Miner and Ice Harvester modules.

Procurer

Main article: Procurer
The Procurer

The Procurer is the smallest Mining Barge, and the easiest to attain the skills to fly. The major drawback to the Procurer is its limited mining capacity of only 1 Strip Miner or Ice Harvester module. A single Strip Miner can only mine 560m3 every 3 minutes, less than what most other ships can mine with Miner IIs. The positive side is it can mine ice which is very valuable. Few people use Procurers, as an additional 4 days of training will get you the Retriever barge, which is much better for mining.

Mining Barge Skill Bonus:

  • 3% better yield for Strip Miners per level.

Role Bonus:

  • Able to equip Strip Miner and Ice Harvester modules.

Retriever

Mining Barge Skill Bonus:

  • 3% better yield for Strip Miners per level.

Role Bonus:

  • Able to equip Strip Miner and Ice Harvester modules.

Exhumers

Exhumers are Tech 2 versions of mining barges, with greatly increased shielding and armor, and each is specialized for a specific mining role. All exhumers have four medium slots and two low slots.

Capital Industrial Ship

Rorqual

The Rorqual
Main article: Rorqual

The Rorqual was conceived and designed by Outer Ring Excavations in response to a growing need for capital industry platforms with the ability to support and sustain large-scale mining operations in uninhabited areas of space.

To that end, the Rorqual's primary strength lies in its ability to grind raw ores into particles of smaller size than possible before, while still maintaining their distinctive molecular structure. This means the vessel is able to carry vast amounts of ore in compressed form.

Additionally, the Rorqual is able to fit a capital tractor beam unit, capable of pulling in cargo containers from far greater distances and at far greater speeds than smaller beams can. It also possesses a sizeable drone bay, jump drive capability and the capacity to fit a clone vat bay. This combination of elements makes the Rorqual the ideal nexus to build deep space mining operations around.

Due to its specialization towards industrial operations, its ship maintenance bay is able to accommodate only industrial ships, mining barges and their tech 2 variants

Capital Industrial Ships skill bonuses:

  • -5% reduction in fuel consumption for industrial cores per level
  • 10% bonus to bonus to effectiveness of mining foreman gang links per level when in deployed mode
  • 50% bonus to the range of Capital Shield Transporters per level.

ORE Industrial

Noctis

Main article: Noctis
The Noctis

The Noctis marks Outer Ring Excavations' entry into the lucrative bulk salvaging market. Building on their successes integrating Marauder-class tractor technology into the Orca command platform, and innovations in automated salvaging technology, they designed a compact, affordable wreck recovery solution.

A refined version of the successful limited-run Primae design made a perfect hull to house this new equipment, as its salvaging heritage and advanced sensor suites complement and enhance the new technologies. The increased sensor footprint of the new vessel is more than compensated for by its incredible efficiency at retrieving and reclaiming wreckage.

ORE Prototypes and Limited editions

Primae

The Primae
Main article: Primae

The Primae is a repurposed ORE design intended to ease the task of extracting resources from planetbound environments. Initially devised as a deep space salvage vessel for large-scale ore retrieval from destroyed ORE fleets in pirate-occupied areas, its previous incarnation was made all but obsolete by the arrival of capsuleers on the interstellar scene. Realizing that the ship could, with a few minor modifications, be made into an efficient resource harvesting aid, ORE wasted no time in revamping the design.

A low signature radius (a holdover from its earlier manifestation) adds a layer of defense to the Primae‘s already decent plating. In addition, the ship‘s two large bays have been re-engineered to hold equipment for planetside resource extraction and processed materials, making it an especially useful complement to any planetside harvesting endeavor.
