Singularity
From EVEWiki
Singularity (or Sisi) is EVE-Online's test server where future patches are tested. All players are free to connect to this server to help test future patch releases. The downtime for Singularity at 14:00 every day. You can check the server's online status at here: [1].
There are several differences between Tranquility (TQ) and Singularity. On Singularity PvP combat is by mutual consent only. This is so that anyone testing bugs is not interrupted. There are waypoints throughout EVE to assist in testing (such as places for capital ships to turn around, and areas for combat, etc). Also throughout Singularity there are stations where items are seeded for 100isk, so that there are many items available for testing. One such system is FD-MLJ, where players, testers and GMs gather.
Characters are also separate from TQ characters. Periodically everything from TQ is 'mirrored' to Singularity. The last mirror occurred on 17th January 2008.

Connecting
To connect to this server, you will have to take several steps first.
- Make a copy of your EVE install location. This is so that when you patch you still have the current version of the game as well as the test version
- Download the TQ to Singularity patch from http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp?s=singularity
- Apply the TQ to Singularity patch on the copied EVE folder
- Create a new shortcut which links to the new folder with the following changes:
For XP Users: To be able to connect to singularity you have to create a shortcut from the eve.exe file and add this to the target input in the shortcut: /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50
For Vista Users: To be able to connect to singularity you have to create a shortcut from the eve.exe file and add this to the target input in the shortcut: /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50
This should mean that the target looks similar to this: C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\client\eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50
These changes ensure that the test client knows what IP address to connect to, and also to use a different folder from your main EVE folder for cache, as recently this has caused a problem if you connected to Singularity and then tried to log on to Tranquility.
