Aye, fire :) Check EVE-Wiki channel ingame :) --Piotrus 15:03, 24 November 2006 (PST)

Eve-Wiki ingame channel

On the left-hand column of your neocon, click the "Channels & Mailing Lists" button. Next, be sure you have the channels tab selected and click "Create/Join". Type in "EVE-Wiki" (no quotes) and hit enter. Your neocon should add EVE-Wiki to your channels and auto-join you.

Dang Newbies

I just though a more descriptive explaination would be helpful for the newbies (like me) that you send that way, so I didn't sign it on purpose, because I knew you knew it already. Ronoa 21:00, 29 November 2006 (PST)

TOC

"The table of contents is automatically added due to the nature of mediawiki. It, infact, does not have to be there at all. It is placed directly before the first section. Mgrinshpon 13:18, 9 June 2007 (PDT)"

This I know. A problem starts when editors want to describe a ship in their own words, and such can theoretically be several screens long. Were the TOC not added at the top it would not appear until after all of that. Now that the primary header (whose name was also the pagename) is no longer used, this has to be done this way. - Pesi 17:33, 9 June 2007 (PDT)

Thanks...

...for the encouraging words. It's my goal to get a decent pic of every ship in-game up here. Right now as far as I can tell the only sights which index ship names with identifiable images are in German. I'll be glad to see you clean up the text formatting, too, because it's pretty inconsistent. Cheers.

I'm back!

Anyone want to fill me on what needs work, especially template-side? Mgrinshpon 04:58, 21 October 2007 (PDT)

We have no templates on verification and referencing. Trying to import them from Wikipedia (i.e. template:fact) got pretty confusing but we do need them. The <ref></ref> tags do not work either. There's some really wrong information in the ship areas but it's so much to review. Stuff like the Mastodon having more cargo space than the Impel was way off and the Rifter being 'expensive' 300k isk is not expensive except maybe for a newb. Fact and opinion are intertwined and could mislead some new players and anger experienced players causing them to not come back to eve-wiki. So staying with the Article Objectivity rule has to be topmost. Uni Zueto 04:28, 23 October 2007 (PDT)
Hey, seeing as you're good with templates, maybe could you update Template:Core_Ships for the new ships http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=513 and also maybe add those ORE ships? I'm gonna start adding those ships soon. Thanks. Runia 12:42, 25 October 2007 (PDT)
It's done. ORE ships I'll add in a few. —ǥrɩɳsɧƿoɲ 04:39, 27 October 2007 (PDT)

Newbie lost at see

Hi, I've written an EFT tutorial, made a wiki page already (http://www.evewiki.com/index.php?title=EFT_tutorial) but can't find a way of linking it on the guide index, any hint? (got some more articles to up there but waiting to resolve this first)

Thanks

Joshyy

Done. Also, I fixed a little bit of your formatting. —ǥrɩɳsɧƿoɲ 06:52, 3 November 2007 (PDT)
Thanks, but the question was "how?" :)
Simple. I merely added [[Category:Guides]] to the page to place it within the guides category. Also, sign your comments with four ~'s (~~~~). It will automatically add your signature to the talk page. This is useful for identification. —ǥrɩɳsɧƿoɲ 10:07, 3 November 2007 (PDT)
right, thank you - Joshyy 14:57, 3 November 2007 (PDT)

Corp

Is it allowing new players? I want in. Only been playing two days and am on a trial account. — Teh Uber Pwnzer 15:50, 9 December 2007 (PST)

No clue, haven't been on in a few weeks. —ǥrɩɳsɧƿoɲ 18:52, 10 December 2007 (PST)
Yeah, maybe I should have asked if you still played first. — Teh Uber Pwnzer 15:14, 11 December 2007 (PST)

in-game channel vs user page messages

As I do not currently have an active account, I seem to be a poster-boy for your crusade. OTOH, there really aren't that many folks editing this wiki at all regularly. So I can't say how many folks are 'lost' because communcation is 'only' by in-game channel.

As far as total editor count goes, though, if you count that, eg, WoW has 60x the EVE population total, it would not be surprising to find it has 60x the editors, too. --Eirik Ratcatcher 09:36, 15 July 2008 (PDT)

Well, the lack of editors is just the reason for a shift in communication to talk pages. I don't even play EVE anymore, but I'd certainly be interested in editing the wiki if I got any feedback on it or any satisfaction from it. I'm sure many more would too. —ǥrɩɳsɧƿoɲ 10:58, 16 July 2008 (PDT)
Well, then! *poke*! If I may, what font is your sig in, and what does it mean? Or were the characters chosen for their resemblance to standard english? --Eirik Ratcatcher 15:52, 16 July 2008 (PDT)
The latter. —ǥrɩɳsɧƿoɲ 07:46, 17 July 2008 (PDT)

Administration

I eventually re-encountered your "quick link" to administrators, having tried and failed to get the specialpages:userlist page to give me the list via the combo boxes. Any way that that can be fixed? Who has access to the internals of EVE-wiki these days? --Eirik Ratcatcher 11:17, 5 September 2008 (PDT)

New Admin / Bureaucrat

Hi there, just wanted to drop in and introduce myself - my name is Josh, I've just taken over from PreTender and am managing the hosting / layout of the site now. Maybe you can drop me a short line at [email protected] and I would gladly fill you in on the details. Thanks! --Lupas 11:13, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Done. Have you considered asking Lupus if you can be an admin? I'd say yes. —ǥrɩɳsɧƿoɲ 14:27, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

DPLs

Thanks for the suggestion. Glad to see you're still around! DPLs are an interesting concept. It does, however, seem to slow down things quite a bit. I am currently working on some other site optimization issues and bug fixes. Once I'm through with those I'll take a closer look at this. --Lupas 01:41, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Of course I'm around, I'm an ever-present stalker. :D —ǥrɩɳsɧƿoɲ 03:36, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
